Refer Candidates to the HSPH Admissions Office

Dear HSPH Alumni,

Thank you for all your help in making this past year’s admissions process such a success! On campus we now have 59 new doctoral students (including PhD), along with 419 master’s students. More than ten percent are underrepresented minority students, and thirty-three percent are international students. Their backgrounds and specific areas of interest are just as diverse, and we were thrilled to welcome this new class to HSPH.

Alumni are essential to our efforts to recruit students to HSPH. Often, we request alumni to help out with recruitment events either on campus or in their home city. This year, we have the ability to do some online recruitment through virtual fairs and online chats. We are working with student groups to host these online chats, as well as some academic departments that are participating in the virtual fairs. If you have any interest in helping out with recruitment, either online or in person, please contact me or visit the Alumni Community website for information on volunteering as an Admissions Ambassador.

The Admissions Office is also pleased to provide you with information about our Candidate Referral Form, which allows alumni to refer prospective students to our office. As you may know, referrals of prospective students from our alumni are an integral part of our recruitment process. Because of this, I would like to encourage you to complete our online form if there is a prospective student you would like to refer for the 2012-2013 academic year. Once we receive the referral, we will contact the prospective applicant to discuss our degree programs and the admissions process as a whole.

The referral link can be found under Refer a Future HSPH Candidate on the Alumni Community website (bottom of the page). If you haven’t already registered on the alumni community website, you will need to register before referring a candidate.

We are committed to constructing as dynamic, engaged and diverse student body as possible, and know that alumni involvement in the identification and recruitment of top-level prospective HSPH students is crucial to that end.

Thank you for your consideration, and feel free to contact me if you have any ideas or suggestions regarding recruitment. Please do not hesitate to contact me at (617) 432-4175 or at knoonan@hsph.harvard.edu. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Kerri Noonan
Associate Director of Admissions
