A unique benefit of attending the Harvard School of Public Health is that you are part of a great School within a great University!  Our alumni are members of both the HSPH Alumni Association and the University-wide Harvard Alumni Association (HAA). There are a variety of benefits available to our members and lifetime membership in both associations is free; however, we do rely on our alumni as the bedrock of support for our student scholarship fund.

Membership in the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA)

A unique benefit of attending the Harvard School of Public Health is that you are part of a great School within a great University!  Our alumni are members of both the HSPH Alumni Association and the University-wide HAA. Your lifetime membership in the HAA is free. Simply bookmark alumni.harvard.edu and register for a post.harvard email forwarding address. You can then take advantage of exclusive HAA alumni benefits. For example, you will be able to:
  • Access the University-wide Alumni Directory
  • Join or search Crimson Compass, the HAA’s career advising network

Lifetime Post.Harvard E-mail Address

Alumni are eligible for Post.Harvard, a password-protected site offering a variety of services, including an alumni directory, distance learning programs, career/networking opportunities, and en email forwarding address. Messages sent to your Post.Harvard address (yourname@post.harvard.edu) are forwarded to an email account that you provide. You will still need to have an email account through a service such as Gmail, Yahoo or another email provider.  The post.harvard email forwarding address will never expire and will work as long it redirects to a current email account. To register for Post.Harvard:

  • Go to http://alumni.harvard.edu/ 
  • Click where it says "Register" on the righthand side of the page and  
  • Follow the information requests in order to register.

Discounts on HSPH Professional Education

Did you know HSPH has a Center for Continuing Professional Education (CCPE)?
CCPE offers open-enrollment, custom, virtual seminar, and certificate programs in an array of subjects, including: leadership; project management; and occupational and environmental health and safety. Harvard Libraries

Countway Medical Library: Please contact the Francis A. Countway Library of Medicine Privileges Desk at (617) 432-236 or via fax at (617) 432-0693 for an Application for Borrowing Privileges. Any HSPH degree holder may apply for borrowing privileges for a $15.00 annual fee.


The Countway Library of Medicine offers students all the amenities of a state-of-the-art health science library and is complemented by extensive contemporary collections and extraordinary rare book and special materials. The library's web site at www.countway.harvard.edu provides a gateway to Countway's programs and services including borrowing, interlibrary loan, physical access to library resources, remote access to licensed digital resources, contact information for consultation with reference librarians, classes and tutorials covering a variety of information resources and more. 


Students may borrow from the Countway Library, the Harvard College Library (Widener) in Cambridge, and from the various libraries of other Harvard schools. Some departments within the school also maintain libraries. The fall orientation packet includes a brochure that lists all Harvard University libraries, as well as the Welcome to Boston guide which provides information on libraries in the Boston area. Both documents are available in the Office for Student Affairs.


Widener Library
: Please contact the Privileges Desk at (617) 495-4166. Alumni must apply in person in room 195 with a valid photo ID. Alumni are allowed to use the library for 6 free days and take out 6 books per year, and may apply for unlimited free reading room access (does not include access to the stacks). Additional membership is available upon request. Fees are $75.00 for 3 months, $125.00 for 6 months, and $200.00 for a yearly membership.

Harvard Athletic Facilities

Alumni may purchase memberships for Harvard athletic facilities that include the Malkin Athletic Center, Hemenway Gymnasium, Blodgett Pool, and the Murr Center. Memberships may only be purchased in person at the Murr Center, located at 65 North Harvard Street, Allston, MA 02134.

  • Rate for spring 2011 semester is $300
  • Full year membership available beginning in June
  • Rates for summer and full year available in the spring.

Alumni must apply in person in the office on the first floor and bring a valid photo I.D. and the staff at the Murr will verify your alumni status. Membership may be paid for the entire year or in installments.
