“I am so grateful for the financial aid support that is allowing me
to follow my passion of helping people reach their ultimate health and
happiness.” – Agnes Terry
DC Scholar, Agnes Terry, on why she chose public health as a career and the importance of financial aid.
“I grew up interested in health through the stories of my grandfather's holistic approach to his medical practice balanced with my mother's more unconventional approach of alternative medicine, yoga and meditation.”
After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, Agnes worked for a year teaching English in Shenzhen, China. She then returned to the U.S. to work for the Visiting Nurse Associations of America (VNAA), first as an education programs coordinator, and later as a senior project associate for the VNAA development team.
“After college, my experiences working on a presidential campaign and in a health advocacy organization illuminated the importance of tackling problems affecting people's daily lives on the system level. At HSPH, I know I am building a solid foundation upon which to improve people’s lives and influence the health sector's quality and cost issues. I aspire to advance prevention and the value of a healthy lifestyle through wellness programs.”
Agnes is in her second year of the two-year Master of Science in Health Policy and Management program.
